Family Photos at Medard Park, Plant City — Golden Hour Session

Family photo shoot at Edward Medard Park

As a Tampa-based photographer, I've captured a lot of family portraits — but this golden hour session with a family of four at Edward Medard Conservation Park in Plant City stood out. It was my first full family session in Florida since relocating from New Jersey, and the location made the introduction an easy one.

Why Medard Park Works for Golden Hour Portraits

Walking through the oak trees with their roots arched above ground felt like stepping into a fairytale. Spanish moss caught the last light of the day, and the Medard reservoir gave us a natural, uncluttered backdrop — the trees framed the family in a way no studio setup could replicate.

Capturing the Family Candidly

Soft, warm light does a lot of the work in a session like this. I focused on documenting real moments rather than posed ones — playful interactions between siblings, quiet ones between parents — so the finished gallery reads like memories, not a photoshoot.
